Consignment Guidelines

Yellow Bird Books is proud to support local authors by offering a local author consignment program. This allows us to feature titles from self published and small press authors as space allows. We will consider professionally written, edited, and produced books from authors living in our area with preference to those living in Aurora.

*All inquiries should be directed to us via email so that we can set up an appointment to meet with you. We are a very small store and an appointment is the best way to assure we have time to talk.

* Knowledge of our customer base and what appeals to them is a large part of our decision making process. We pride ourselves on our carefully curated collection of books. We highly recommend visiting our store and feeling us out to see if you feel we are a fit for your book!

*We would prefer that the title be available for our store to order through Ingram and priority will go to those that are available. We understand that some authors are published independently and we will still consider them as well.

*Yellow Bird Books reserves the right to reject a book for any reason.

*If selected, we can carry up to 3 copies of your book for 90 days. After the initial 90-day consignment period, we will contact the author to settle the account, request more stock, or return unsold stock. If the account is extended, it will be for another 90-day period.

*If stock is needed before the 90-day period is up, Yellow Bird Books will contact the consignor for more copies as needed.

*At the end of the consignment period, the author is responsible for picking up their unsold stock. All books left unclaimed after 30 days will be donated.

* Yellow Bird Books reserves the right to choose where and how to display the book(s).

*Yellow Bird Books will pay the industry-standard rate of 60% of the retail price for consignment items sold. We retain 40% as our sales commission.

*As part of the consignment agreement, the author agrees to promote Yellow Bird Books on social media as a location at which their works can be purchased.

*Yellow Bird Books will do everything within their power to maintain the integrity of the books consigned and secure them during the consignment period. We are not responsible for theft, loss, or damage to books consigned.
