Yellow Bird Books is a woman-owned independent bookstore created to support the needs of the community by providing a thoughtfully curated selection of books and related merchandise. We strive to help customers discover the joys of reading, learning, and creating in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
Yellow Bird Books stocks new fiction and nonfiction books by diverse authors for diverse audiences of all ages. We carry books and merchandise that reflect an emphasis on the arts, science, history, science fiction and fantasy, education, and social issues. We are pleased to support the vibrant arts culture in Aurora and also carry an array of literary-themed merchandise and unique items created by local artists and makers. Small Business
Since moving to Aurora in 2009, Yellow Bird Books founder Karen Nicholas has enthusiastically supported local small businesses and community events. Karen believes that it is the responsibility of individuals to create and support the kind of community in which they want to live. As a booklover, educator, and believer in lifelong learning, she has always dreamed of living in a community with an independent bookstore. When the opportunity arose in 2022, she began the journey to bring Yellow Bird Books to downtown Aurora. She is thrilled that Yellow Bird Books will open in the historic Keystone Building right in the heart of downtown Aurora.
